Smart Lane

American Airlines Security Checkpoint Terminal 3

Ilekis designed two automated smart lanes for American Airlines at Terminal 3, based on the redesigned TSA Precheck security checkpoint. The lanes utilize a parallel conveyor belt system that automatically shuttles bins throughout the process and will allow up to five passengers to fill bins at once. The bins themselves are 25% larger than regular lanes and have electronic tags that enables tracking of the container

Our design included significant changes to the checkpoint enclosure and layout, with a new glazed folding partition wall system, new lighting, security cameras and electrical system.

American Airlines was the first to proceed with the innovating security lane system at Terminal 3 at O'Hare Int'l Airport. We were excited to be part of the project and part of the well-received completion.
